Head of Finance – Programming & Marketing

Reporting of the Role

This role reports to Finance Director – Commercial, Programming & Marketing

Overview of job
 

Reporting to the FD, the Head of Finance will manage the finance business partnering function for Programming and Marketing.

Measures of success – 

In the first few months, you would have

  • Gained an understanding of Global Media, including the key business drivers and KPIs

  • Established good working relationships with all key marketing and programming stakeholders and have a clear understanding of their needs and priorities

  • Developed a good working relationship with your direct reports, FD and the wider finance function across Global

  • Led the roll out of new reporting and KPI procedures for the programming and marketing teams, working in partnership with key senior business stakeholders to understand and address their needs and requirements

  • Embraced Global’s brands, values & behaviours and passion for the business.

Responsibilities of the role

  • Lead a team of 3 people to deliver top-level management reporting requirements and support for these strategically important areas of the business.

  • Business partnering with the senior management of the Marketing and Programming departments. Manage all of the operating costs for Programming including reviewing presenter costs.  

  • Manage all investment related to marketing activities, including consumer and trade marketing.

  • Support the performance of the enterprise business, across all revenue channels, including competitions, brand partnerships and brand extensions.   

  • Key stakeholders include, Director of Broadcasting, Group Programming Operations Director and the Managing Editors of the brands, plus within Marketing, Chief Marketing Officer plus key senior managers including Director of Events and Enterprise Director.

  • Manage all performance reporting and hold business partners to account for budgets and targets 

  • Own all budgets, forecasts, management accounts and KPIs for these areas 

  • Lead on projects, support decisions and help drive the business through use of high-quality analysis, data and business acumen 

  • Embrace technological changes including the new finance system to deliver efficient, value enhancing support for the business

  • Maintain high levels of financial management and controls to support the business areas.  

  • Participate as part of the senior management team within finance, supporting the CFO in setting strategy, objectives and people plans

What you will need

The ideal candidate will be proactive and willing to develop and implement innovative solutions, capable of the following: 

  • Developed business partnering relationships at a senior level within an organisation

  • Significant experience working in a relevant finance role at a senior level. Marketing or media/advertising experience an advantage, but not a pre-requisite.

  • You will have managed and developed people with a wide range experience and seniority levels.

  • To demonstrate a track record of driving change, improvement and challenge through an organisation or department

  • Qualified accountant with a proven track record of career progression in a large, dynamic organisation
