General Accountability
The Finance Business Analyst gathers business requirements, prepares end-to-end business process maps, prepares end user training materials, test scripts and executes unit testing for the firm’s financial software solutions. The role ensures system configurations are in alignment with Finance strategy, policy and practices. The Finance Business Analyst partners across the firm, where required, to resolve post-implementation service tickets, assisting relevant stakeholders with problem and incident resolution, and escalating support as necessary.
The Finance Business Analyst will report to the Senior Finance Director and works in partnership across the Finance team and frequently engages team members across Farris to understand project requirements, including interdependencies and impacts.
Primary Responsibilities
1) Performs business analyst functions for Finance and related areas (e.g., billing, trust accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, month end close, file opening, file closing, and administration).
Partners with key stakeholders to develop business requirements; details functional specification documents, and test cases.
Identifies Finance functional requirements by consulting with the stakeholder community to determine design elements.
Gathers, analyzes and defines reporting needs and requirements, and develops reports.
Defines and prepares security roles/groups and work for implementation.
Maintains the RAID (risks, actions, issues and decisions) log for the finance implementation project.
Prepares end user training materials and job aids as needed.
Fields post-implementation specialist knowledge tickets, support problems and incident resolutions.
Conducts business tests for configuration validation and facilitates integrated testing.
Remains current in technology and Finance practice areas.
2) Develops and maintains effective partnerships across the firm.
Partners cross-functionally across the Farris to align work, priorities and practices, participating in stakeholder review meetings as appropriate.
Partners with the IT team to support the definition and documentation of requirements, processes, and interdependencies.
3) Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (i.e. Financial Management or Business Administration.
Minimum of five years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working in a law firm or professional services environment is preferred.
Experience working with a Financial Management System is preferred. CPA designation is considered an asset. Elite experience is an asset.
Demonstrated experience administering Firm Management Software or a Financial Management System throughout periods of significant change.
Demonstrated ability to engage with stakeholders and to analyze and provide insight regarding a range of Finance products.
Proven knowledge of business process re-engineering / improvement, data analysis, and data modeling (conceptual, logical).- Demonstrated experience in iterative management or other related methods is considered an asset.
Demonstrated knowledge and proven experience in producing business requirements, use cases, user scenarios, user stories, and business process maps.
Demonstrated experience collaborating on cross-functional teams to meet critical, time-sensitive deadlines and communicating to diverse audiences.
Excellent interpersonal skills including active listening, written and verbal communication, and conflict management.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy; exercise tact and discretion.
Proficiency with MS Office Business Productivity Tools specifically for reporting, metrics, and data validation.
Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative and inclusive manner.
