AARP's Policy, Research and International Affairs leads the development and communication of AARP's public policies and, research and insights on the issues that matter to people 50-plus.
Cultivates and maintains strategic relationships with thought leaders and influencers across industries and leverage the cross-enterprise brainpower to elevate solutions and unique points of view on aging and longevity in the public discourse. Identifies, and establishes partnerships that assist the organization in meeting its strategic business objectives. Collaborates with senior management to develop strategic messages that brings in and pushes out new ideas; represents the organization at key forums, meetings, and advisory boards.
Responsibilities
Lead a thought leadership portfolio with a focus on financial resilience, future of work, aging and longevity and the multigenerational workforce.
Engage with external and internal stakeholder on issues related to financial resilience.
Lead and execute a private sector engagement strategy to develop market driven solutions to address financial resilience issues.
Curates research, insights and analysis on aging, longevity and financial resilience issues.
Write and publish content (reports, blog posts, etc.) for internal and external audiences.
Provide expert guidance and analysis to VP, SVP and Executive Leadership.
Define and implement a future facing thought leadership approach across the enterprise to address the future of work and longevity.
Qualifications
Completion of an Advanced degree in public policy, communications, or related discipline required and 8 years of experience in program development and implementation; or an equivalent combination of training and experience related to the duties of the position.
Demonstrated ability to forge effective internal and external partnerships across groups and departments.
Excellent analytical, project management and leadership skills.
Proven ability to quickly understand and interpret strategic issues and directions.
Ability to collect and analyze information and to edit, write and speak clearly and persuasively.
Excellent interpersonal and influence skills to work collaboratively with a variety of personalities and styles.
Expert knowledge on policy issues relevant to AARP preferred.
Ability to communicate with all levels of management.
Demonstrated diplomatic, networking, and delegation skills.
Technical proficiency in MS office. Design skills a plus.
This position works in an open-space office environment and the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise is required. This position requires regular use of computer keyboard, mouse and screen(s), review of marketing creative (color), and will communicate via mobile phone and computer.
Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)
AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Telework and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
