As a member of the Financial Planning & Analysis team (FP&A), the Analyst
will provide ongoing value-added financial and business analysis and support for all levels of management within AARP's Integrated Communications and Marketing group. Performs financial analysis and reporting duties, including the creation, review, and quality control of financial reports. You will be responsible for coordinating the annual budget, quarterly forecast, and monthly financial results analysis processes across multiple lines of business within the Integrated Communications and Marketing (ICM) group. You will develop, build, and maintain complex financial models; analyze financial statements and related data; develop executive-level presentations to inform and support both short term and long term planning efforts across the Association. Additionally, you will provide ad-hoc financial analysis and business case development as required by the business unit and leverage new technology to drive efficiencies in reporting through robotic process automation and data visualization in partnership with IT Services.
Responsibilities
Provide direct financial planning and analysis support for the Brand, and Integrated Communications groups within AARP's ICM operating group. Manages monthly business unit budget/forecast variance reports, identify and communicate details related to any variance issues; meet with business unit managers, discuss variances, and document / communicate related risks or opportunities.
Develops complicated forms, reports, and ad hoc analytics within Hyperion Planning, Hyperion Financial Reporting, and Smart View. Is trained extensively on all aspects of Hyperion Planning and Smart View (Essbase).
Partners with business group leaders, operations staff, accounting, and other FP&A staff to coordinate the timely completion of the annual budget process, quarterly forecasts, monthly financial close, and other ad-hoc analysis projects.
Manage and develop critical relationships across key functional areas within AARP and interacts with all levels of leadership at AARP, including the Sr. Vice President - Financial Planning & Analysis, Chief Communications and Marketing Officer, and the Group Executives for Brand Management and Integrated Communications. Must be comfortable working directly with Executives and Leadership Team members.
Plays an active role in the development of new data visualization and robotic process automation tools used to provide management reporting and financial analysis.
Additional financial modeling expertise, reporting, analytics, and ownership in the following key areas. Financial modeling will be heavily based on Hyperion, PeopleSoft, and Oracle Business Intelligence data.
Digital Revenue, Expense, and Contribution modeling; Monthly operational and financial variance analysis; Financial trend analysis and forecast accuracy improvement.
Prioritize projects and assignments efficiently and effectively. Uses business, technical, and educational experience to correctly evaluate the analytical output of others. Completes assignments in a timely manner, often while completing multiple projects with competing priorities.
Qualifications
Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline (advanced degree in Finance, MBA preferred).
Minimum 4 years of directly related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience related to the duties of the position.
Experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, business analysis, and modeling. Excellent oral, written, influence, and interpersonal skills required.
Technical competencies include Financial Planning software tools such Hyperion, Essbase, Tableau, and PeopleSoft. Must be an advanced user with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)
AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
