The San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) is hiring several intern positions to support our Financial Planning, Budgets, and Grants department, available internships include:
• Financial Programming and Project Controls Intern
• Grants Program Intern
• Project Management Office Intern

Job Responsibilities
Financial Programming and Project Controls:
▪ Assist with preparation and maintaining transportation improvement project budget control worksheets, comprehensive project databases, tracking logs, and documentation.
▪ Assist with the preparation of meeting agenda, supporting materials, special reports, general correspondence, and meeting notes.
▪ Support the development of revenue agreements log to increase efficiency in data collection, search, management, and analysis.
▪ Review Regional Transportation Improvement Program (RTIP) projects for mapping, performance management and bike/pedestrian requirements.
▪ Assist with processing, tracking, and filing state and federal funding related documents, such as timely use of funds requests for allocations and extensions and revenue agreements and maintaining funding libraries.
▪ Review consultant invoices for accuracy; coordinate between consultants and project managers to resolve billing disputes; provide account coding on incoming invoices and coordinate with other groups/sections to ensure timely payment.
▪ Maintaining Financial Programming division calendar.
▪ Provide other support to the division as needed.
Grants Program:
▪ Maintenance of library of grant application materials and other records; making updates and enhancements to Grants SharePoint pages, and reminder emails of grant submission deadlines.
▪ Preliminary reviews of grantee invoices, quarterly reports, and other materials and routing documents for signature when necessary.
▪ Perform administrative support tasks such as filing, scanning, notetaking, and monitoring approvals and the status of various documents.
▪ Assist with preparing progress reports, other special reports, and general correspondence.
▪ Provide support for Grants Division work on both applying for grant funds and distribution of grant funds.
Project Management Office Intern:
▪ Review consultant invoices for accuracy; coordinate between consultants and project managers to resolve billing disputes; provide account coding on incoming invoices and coordinate with other groups/sections to ensure timely payment.
▪ Assist with maintaining transportation improvement project budget control worksheets, comprehensive project databases, tracking logs, and documentation.
▪ Assist with budget and invoice cost analysis.
▪ Support the development of innovative solutions designed to increase efficiency in data collection, management, and analysis.
▪ Assist with the preparation of progress reports, other special reports, and general correspondence.
▪ Assist with updating contract information in the accounting system and with maintaining and updating contract files.
▪ Assist with data entry and project controls implementation to support the scheduling of capital transportation projects.
Qualifications
▪ Graduate or final-year undergraduate coursework in public or business administration, planning, engineering, project management, finance, or a related field.
▪ Demonstrated experience performing a range of administrative support services; ability to maintain accurate records.
▪ Ability to communicate with various audiences using exceptional interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
▪ Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, high degree of accuracy, and ability to multitask and work on several projects simultaneously.
▪ Ability to perform a range of administrative support services and maintain accurate records.
▪ Ability to complete assignments that involve researching, analyzing, and synthesizing information into written summaries, reports, or recommendations.
▪ Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to perform a variety of tasks typical of an entry-level project management position.
▪ Knowledge of current issues and trends related to regional budgeting, financial planning, grants, and project development.
▪ Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access, and Internet research.
▪ Knowledge of data resources and tools; experience supporting the compilation of data for large, complex databases is desirable.
