We seek a highly organized and self-motivated individual to perform a broad range of financial and grants management activities, including ensuring compliance with funder-specified implementation and financial reporting requirements. Ideally, the candidate will have five or more years of experience managing federal and foundation awards for a non-profit or academic institution. The Grants and Financial Associate will also assist in the preparation and submission of grant proposals and will support the Director of Finance and Administration with various financial accounting activities, subaward and contract development, and budget monitoring. This position will report to the Director of Finance and Administration

Organization Overview:
**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. is a scientific research organization and one of the nation’s leading authorities on cancer-causing chemicals in our everyday environments, with a particular focus on breast cancer prevention. We are a collaborative, high-energy staff of 25, including 20 scientists
with expertise in epidemiology, toxicology, chemistry, social science, and communications. We lead National Institutes of Health-funded research, collaborating with investigators at Harvard, UC Berkeley, US EPA, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Silent Spring partners with environmental justice groups, documenting racial disparities in exposures to pollutants, and supporting impacted communities.
In addition to conducting scientific research, we work to educate policymakers and the public, and to translate our science into policies that support prevention of exposures to toxic chemicals.
Key Responsibilities:
Grants management:
  Monitor spend-down of grant budgets and oversee fiscal grant reporting and audit preparation; ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state regulations, accounting and reporting policies, and procedures and requirements surrounding subrecipient monitoring, and conduct reporting and registration activities via federal agency online portals such as eRA Commons, FSRS, Grants.Gov, eLLOCCS, etc.
Contracting
: Generate subrecipient and subcontracting agreements, function as liaison with contracted entities to monitor performance, with particular emphasis on compliance with Federal guidelines, and manage accounts payable.
Proposal development support:
 Assist in preparing NIH and other federal, state, and foundation grants proposals, in particular helping to develop budgets, manage RFA and RFP requirements, and helping principal investigators and research assistants to gather necessary proposal components from internal and external collaborators.
Assisting the Director of Finance and Administration
with financial accounting activities as needed, including preparation of journal entries, invoicing and accounts payable transactions, development of organizational budgets and staff allocation planning via Questica PowerPlan, and with organizational registrations at the state and federal level (e.g. SAM).
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher and 3 years of related work experience
Knowledge and experience in accounting principles
Knowledge of QuickBooks financial software
Proficiency with MS Office, including a strong proficiency working with Excel spreadsheets
Demonstrated skill in managing multiple concurrent workflows and timelines
Proactive – enjoys being a driver of a process and working independently as well as in a team
Attention to detail
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Additional Desired Experience and Skills:
Work experience in a non-profit, academic, or health/research-related entity
Knowledge of Federal Uniform Guidance and other Federal regulations relevant to non-profit activities
Knowledge of PowerPlan budgeting software
