We are looking for an experienced fundraising professional eager to work in a collegial environment to help propel the organization's fundraising to the next level. Reporting to the Director of Development, the Annual Fund and Developme
nt Manager will be a key part of a small, hard-working team with exposure to all aspects of the organization’s work.
This position involves assisting with seasonal appeals, events, donor relations, and general fundraising efforts to support Silent Spring’s mission. Due to the nature of the job and our small development team, the person filling this position must be comfortable wearing many hats – from database administration to major gala planning, to carrying a caseload of mid-level donors, to managing catering arrangements for special meetings.

Specific responsibilities include the following:
Appeals
Manage distribution of fundraising appeals, newsletters and impact reports each year, and other mailings as needed.
Work with consultants and staff to establish and maintain a smooth work plan and timeline, including working with the designer, printers, and mail house, segmenting donors, creating mail lists and ask levels, making follow-up phone calls, tracking all gifts, and writing thank you notes.
Oversee a supporter connection survey every 1-2 years
Drive efforts to increase annual giving by understanding our donors, their interests, trends, and by accessing new and creative channels.
Special Events
Provide event support for 3-4 small special events and one large gala each year, currently being held virtually/hybrid
Create and oversee the master to-do list for events
Seek corporate sponsorships and auction donations
Assist our administrative assistant to manage mail lists and registrations in our donor database
Contribute proactive and creative thinking to make each event better than the last
Administrative Duties
Establish proficiency in Little Green Light database.
Fill in for and assist our administrative assistant/database manager during vacations and busy times
As a part of a small administrative team, there will be miscellaneous duties assigned as needed to support the Leadership Team
Mid-level donor advancement (this will be a part of the position once all other areas have been mastered and it is clear that this can be added to the workload)
Carry a case load of about 30 mid-level donors to bring them through the moves management steps necessary to maintain and increase their giving
Provide thoughtful data-based analysis and reports on donor retention, trends and other items to help with fundraising strategies
Qualifications and skills:
College degree plus at least 3-5 years of development experience at a nonprofit organization
Excellent writer and communicator using email, phone and in-person conversations
Experience working on a busy and productive development team
Must be reliable and hyper-attentive to detail
Knowledge and experience in a range of fundraising techniques, particularly annual appeals, donor communications, and utilizing events to acquire, cultivate and steward donors
Strong time-management skills, with an ability to manage many projects at one time
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with flexibility, self-confidence and a sense of humor. Also, be willing to reach out for help and support when needed
Positive attitude, concern for people and community, common sense and good listening ability
Salary and Benefits:
This position is full-time, onsite in Newton, Massachusetts, near highways and public transit. Most of our staff is currently remote, but this position will be required to be in the office 2 days per week until we are back full-time.
Salary range is $60,000 - $70,000 commensurate with experience.

Our hours are generally EST business hours. However, we offer and require flexibility on work hours, including the need to work some evenings and weekends.
