Payroll Specialist - NYC Law Firm - A flexible hybrid schedule is available with this opportunity - $75-80k
Liberty Personnel is working with a growing, well known law firm located in Manhattan that is adding a Payroll Specialist to their expanding team. An ideal candidate will be detail oriented, possess multi-state payroll experience and have experience overseeing the processing of bi-weekly, semi-monthly and monthly payrolls.
The law firm payroll coordinator is responsible for processing payroll and related tasks for the employees of a law firm. The job duties typically include:
1. Collecting and verifying employee timesheets and other payroll-related documents.
2. Inputting employee data into payroll software, calculating hours worked, and applying relevant deductions, such as taxes, benefits, and leave.
3. Responding to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues.
4. Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
5. Generating and distributing paychecks or electronic funds transfer (EFT) payments to employees.
6. Maintaining accurate records of payroll transactions and producing regular reports.
7. Collaborating with HR department to ensure seamless transition of employee data from HR system to payroll system.
8. Reconciling payroll accounts and identifying and correcting discrepancies.
9. Participating in year-end payroll activities, such as issuing W-2 forms and preparing year-end tax filings.
10. Staying up-to-date with changes in payroll laws and regulations, and recommending process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Qualifications for the position may include:
1. A bachelor's degree in finance or accounting, or relevant experience in payroll administration.
2. Strong proficiency in payroll software, such as ADP, Workday, UKG, etc.
3. Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
4. Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity while handling sensitive information.
5. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
6. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations.
8. Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
9. Experience overseeing payroll for a minimum of 400 employees
