I. JOB OVERVIEW
Job Description Summary:
The University Budget Office (
UBO
) ensures that the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.'s (GW) resources are directed to their most optimal use and that the strategic priorities of the university are the primary drivers of those decisions. Creating the university's operating and capital budget is a large responsibility that requires understanding the business needs of all of the operating units at GW.
The Senior Analyst, FP&A performs comprehensive assessments of the budget and forecast as well as ongoing analysis and modeling for the university under limited supervision from the Associate Vice President for Budget and Financial Analysis.
Main responsibilities of the position are:
Creating extensive and dynamic financial modeling to arrive at university-wide budget parameters and deliverables
Collaborating with finance staff from multiple academic and administrative units within the university in preparation of multi-year budget projections and forecasts
Performing thorough analysis of budget and forecast to ensure completeness and overall accuracy of data
Recommending methods to help streamline and improve budget and forecast processes for increased efficiency
Producing regular and ad hoc analyses including, but not limited to, the following areas: total university and unit level fiscal performance, statistical forecasting, development of innovative metrics, enrollment and tuition, financial aid.
Identifying current and emerging trends that might impact GW's fiscal and budgetary conditions and projecting potential impact under varying scenarios (e.g., trends over time, emerging trends in higher education, best practices, systems and automation).
Compiling of data utilized for reporting to the Board and senior management
Providing support in year-end closing
Performing other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 3 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Advanced Excel and Database skills, including experience with financial modeling
Strong analytical skills with the ability to present data, reports and analyses in an effective manner to a variety of audiences
Ability to manage and interpret large volumes of data
Experience with budgeting and financial analysis in higher education
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with individuals at all levels throughout the organization
